Explorers and journals
Eyewitness accounts of the First Fleet and the journals of the colonial expeditions inland. These are records of invasion and dispossession as much as of discovery. They were written by outsiders, often misunderstand or demean the Aboriginal people whose Country they crossed, and name people who have since died. Read them as historical documents, not as authorities on Aboriginal culture.
